DIW Factory Rolex Land Dweller 127234 Best Edition White Honey Comb Dial on SS Bracelet Asian 7135 Automatic Movement
Rolex Oyster Perpetual Land‑Dweller Series: Comprehensive Review
The Rolex Land‑Dweller, unveiled at Watches & Wonders 2025, is a brand‑new Oyster Perpetual line featuring a radically redesigned case/bracelet and a groundbreaking movement. It introduces an integrated flat‑link “Flat Jubilee” bracelet that merges seamlessly into a slimmed‑down Oyster case. The Land‑Dweller is offered in 36mm and 40mm case sizes (both 9.7 mm thin) in three main materials: white Rolesor (Oystersteel case + white gold bezel), 18K Everose gold, and 950 Platinum. Select models use a fluted white-gold bezel or a trapeze‑cut diamond bezel, with the Platinum model sporting an ice-blue honeycomb dial and the others an intense white dial. Like traditional Datejust/Day-Date models, the Land‑Dweller has a date at 3 o’clock with Cyclops magnifier. Other design details include polished chamfers along the case and bracelet edges, alternating polished and satin finishes on the links, and Rolex’s concealed Crownclasp on the bracelet.
-
Case & Bezel: Oyster monobloc middle case with screw‑down back and crown, Twinlock waterproof system. Fluted white‑gold bezel (Oystersteel models) or gem‑set bezel on precious versions. (All Land‑Dwellers are 100 m water‑resistant, far less than Rolex divers.)
-
Bracelet: New five‑link Flat Jubilee integrated bracelet. Its flat center links are unique to this model. Outer links and center links have contrasting polished/satin finishes, with a hidden Crownclasp under the bracelet.
-
Dial: Laser-engraved honeycomb motif on the dial surface, plus concentric polished rings between each cell. Dial colors are bright white (steel/Everose) or ice-blue (Platinum). The open-work “6” and “9” numerals, long baton indices, and broad hands are treated with Rolex Chromalight luminous material (blue glow) for low‑light legibility.
-
Exhibition Back: Unusually for Rolex, the Land‑Dweller has a sapphire display caseback, showcasing the new Calibre 7135 movement. (This “window onto excellence” is a key distinguishing feature: a genuine Land‑Dweller always has a clear back.)
Technical Specifications & Movement
Under the hood is Rolex’s all‑new Caliber 7135 self‑winding movement (entirely developed in-house), a high-frequency engine beating at 5 Hz (36,000 vph). Cal. 7135 powers hours, minutes, seconds and a rapid‑change date (with stop‑seconds function). Rolex highlights include the Dynapulse escapement – a silicon, double-impulse (two‑wheel) system – and a ceramic balance staff, both offering superior energy efficiency and magnetic resistance. The balance uses a patented Syloxi silicon hairspring and Paraflex shock absorbers. These innovations yield a power reserve ≈66 hours with chronometer-level accuracy (−2/+2 s/day). In summary:
-
Caliber: 7135, Rolex Manufacture (new for 2025). 16+ patents cover its escapement and oscillator.
-
Frequency: 5 Hz (36,000 vph) – one of Rolex’s first very high‑beat calibers.
-
Escapement: Dynapulse double‑wheel indirect impulse, silicon parts for efficiency.
-
Oscillator: Silicon Syloxi hairspring; Paraflex shock absorber; free-sprung Glucydur-type balance.
-
Functions: Hours/minutes/central seconds, instant date at 3:00, stop-seconds. Date changes instantly at midnight.
-
Power Reserve: ~66 hours.
-
Certification: Superlative Chronometer (Rolex’s internal standard, after casing).
-
Other: Bidirectional Perpetual rotor, paramagnetic components, and (unique to this model) an openworked 18K gold winding rotor visible under the display back.
Notable Models and Editions
The Land‑Dweller launched with both case sizes in several variants:
-
36 mm Rolesor (Oystersteel + white gold): Intense White dial. Retail ≈$14,450 (Ref. 127234).
-
40 mm Rolesor: Intense White dial. ≈$15,350 (Ref. 127334).
-
36 mm Everose gold: White dial. ≈$43,300 (Ref. 127235).
-
40 mm Everose gold: White dial. ≈$47,400 (Ref. 127335).
-
36 mm Platinum (950Pt): Ice-Blue dial. ≈$59,700 (Ref. 127236).
-
40 mm Platinum: Ice-Blue dial. ≈$64,200 (Ref. 127336).
-
Diamond-set Versions: High‑jewellery variants include diamond-set bezels/hours. For example: 36 mm Everose + diamonds ≈$90,850; 40 mm Everose + diamonds ≈$106,150; 36 mm Platinum + diamonds ≈$95,750; 40 mm Platinum + diamonds ≈$118,050. (All prices are U.S. retail and may vary by market.)
No “special limited editions” have been announced beyond these production models. All are officially marketed as new Rolex models, not limited runs. However, due to strong demand, allocation is extremely tight – at launch every configuration quickly became very hard to obtain from dealers.
Functional Capabilities
As a luxury sports watch, the Land-Dweller is robust but not a true diver’s instrument:
-
Water Resistance: 100 m (330 ft), enabled by a screw-down Twinlock crown. (By comparison, the Submariner is rated to 300 m, the Sea-Dweller to 1,220 m.) The Land-Dweller lacks a helium escape valve and rotating bezel, so it is suited to swimming/snorkeling, but not saturation diving.
-
Luminosity: Rolex Chromalight luminous coating on hands, hour markers and the open “6”/“9” numerals. In the dark, these glow long‑lasting blue for easy reading.
-
Other Features: Date with Cyclops magnifier at 3:00 for quick legibility. The flat, integrated bracelet is comfortable and secure but does not have the diver’s extension link found on Submariner/Sea‑Dweller bracelets.
-
Everyday Wear: Sleek case (9.7 mm) and 100 m water‑proofing make it elegant enough for formal wear yet resilient for sports and travel. The thin profile (thinner than any existing Oyster sports Rolex) and integrated bracelet give it a dressier look compared to the bulkier dive models.
Market Position & Pricing
Retail: At launch, the Land-Dweller is priced well above Rolex’s traditional entry-level sports watches. Steel/Oystersteel–white gold (Rolesor) models start around $14.4k (36 mm) and $15.4k (40 mm) – notably higher than a comparable Submariner Date (~$11.3k). Everose gold starts in the mid-$40k range, and platinum in the $60k range. Diamond-set versions exceed $90k. These prices reflect Rolex’s positioning of the Land-Dweller as a high‑end “sports-luxury” model, akin to Patek Nautilus or Audemars Piguet Royal Oak in retail tier.
Secondary Market: From day one, the Land-Dweller commanded huge premiums. An unworn 40 mm steel Rolesor sold for $51,250 on eBay – roughly 3× its $15,350 retai. Industry reports note steel models routinely reselling around $40k+ shortly after launch. Even precious-metal versions trade far above retail (e.g. platinum/diamond Land-Dwellers already quoted in the six-figure range by dealers). In short, as one analyst put it, the Land-Dweller has entered the “rarefied territory” of top-end sports watches.
At retail, the Land-Dweller is competitive against other integrated luxury sport watches (for example, the Audemars Piguet Royal Oak Jumbo retails ~$37.9k), but on the gray market Rolex’s unmatched demand drives prices much higher. The early secondary frenzy suggests waiting lists will be long and true market prices will far exceed Rolex’s MSRP for the foreseeable future.
Collectibility, Historical Significance & Investment
The Land-Dweller is historically notable as Rolex’s first fully integrated-bracelet sports watch in decades. Its styling is inspired by vintage Oysterquartz models of the 1970s (with echoes of the 1970 Beta 21 and ref. 1630 Oysterquartz), but it’s a mechanical watch, not quartz. Rolex itself calls it a “true milestone” that “opens new horizons”. The movement alone – a 16‑patent, 5 Hz caliber – is considered a “game‑changer” in industrial-scale watchmaking. Collectors see it as ushering in a new era for Rolex (a “game changing” release).
Given its novelty and Rolex cachet, the Land-Dweller is viewed as highly collectible. Early anecdotal evidence (auction and eBay prices, dealer markups) indicates strong investment potential. Industry analysts note that with its revolutionary tech and Rolex branding, “perfect conditions for sustained secondary market premiums” exist. In short, the Land-Dweller already ranks as one of Rolex’s most sought‑after new releases, and is expected to hold or appreciate value much like the Royal Oak or Nautilus did after release.
Comparison: Land‑Dweller vs. Sea‑Dweller & Submariner
The Land-Dweller represents a departure from Rolex’s dive-centric sports watches:
-
Water Resistance: Sea‑Dweller is rated 1,220 m (4,000 ft), and Submariner 300 m. Land-Dweller is only 100 m. This reflects Land’s focus on style and daily wear rather than deep diving.
-
Case & Bezel: Sea/Submariner use robust 40–43 mm Oyster cases (typically ≥12–15 mm thick) with ceramic rotating dive bezels. Land-Dweller is slimmer (9.7 mm), with a fixed fluted or diamond-set bezel. It has no unidirectional insert or timing scale.
-
Bracelet: Sea/Sub use three-link Oyster bracelets (often with diver’s extension). Land’s new five-link Flat Jubilee is unique and fully integrated. Visually, Land’s bracelet recalls retro Rolex designs more than the classic Oyster or modern Diver’s style.
-
Dial & Hands: Land’s honeycomb dial and stylized numerals (6/9) are distinct from the black Maxi‑dial style of Sub/Sea. All three use Chromalight luminescence, but Land’s hour markers are thinner. The Land’s seconds hand even has a honeycomb‑shaped counterweight, a stylistic touch absent on divers.
-
Movement: The Land-Dweller’s Cal. 7135 (5 Hz) is entirely new, whereas Submariner/Sea‑Dweller currently use Cal. 3235 (4 Hz). All are COSC-certified, but Land’s hi‑beat escapement is a novel Rolex engineering feat.
-
Use-case: Submariner/Sea-Dweller are purpose-built dive watches (with features like helium valves on the Sea‑Dweller). Land-Dweller is conceived as a “robust, elegant everyday watch”. It is Rolex’s answer to modern luxury sports watches, not a tool watch.
In summary, while Submariner/Sea focus on underwater function and tool‑watch utility, the Land-Dweller prioritizes sleek design and horological innovation. Its integrated bracelet and slim profile place it more in the realm of luxury sports (à la Nautilus/Royal Oak) than traditional dive watches.
Replicas & Fakes
As with any hyped Rolex debut, replica versions of the Land-Dweller have already appeared on the gray market. Buyers should be very cautious: the Land-Dweller has several distinctive features that cheap copies often miss. For example, every genuine Land-Dweller has a sapphire exhibition caseback. A fake often substitutes a solid steel back or poorly finished crystal, since seeing the new movement is hard to replicate. Likewise, the laser‑etched honeycomb dial and precise open “6”/“9” are difficult to counterfeit accurately. Subtle details – the exact color tone of Chromalight, the crisp chamfers on the flat bracelet links, the concealed clasp logo – are usually inferior on replicas. To avoid fakes, one should only buy from authorized Rolex retailers and insist on all papers/box.
In summary, the Land-Dweller’s combination of novel design and tech makes it very hard to fake convincingly. Its sapphire back, unique bracelet, and high‑precision finishing are giveaways. Potential buyers should beware of any “Land-Dweller” found outside the official Rolex network, as they are almost certainly counterfeit.

Quality Inspection | Premium Standards | Secure Packaging
Every ModernTimeWatch timepiece goes through a meticulous inspection process before being shipped.
First, the watch is carefully examined to ensure its exterior is flawless, free from any scratches or imperfections.
Then, the movement is tested with a professional timegrapher to ensure it meets the following criteria:
Daily Accuracy: The time deviation over 24 hours is checked. ModernTimeWatch ensures a standard of within 10 seconds per day( the chronometer standard is +6/-4 seconds per day).
Amplitude: This measures the swing of the balance wheel, with the optimal range being 260 to 320. All of our mechanical watches meet this benchmark.
Beat Error: This evaluates the precision of the balance wheel’s pivot. A normal range is 0.8 or lower, as anything higher may increase wear on the pivot. Every watch we send out adheres to this requirement.
Finally, all key functions, including winding, time adjustment, date setting, and chronograph features, are tested to ensure flawless performance.
Before shipping, we provide customers with photos and videos of the inspection process for their approval, ensuring complete satisfaction before packing and dispatching the watch.
